Yesterday my friend Doug said he had a question for me. He said that I'd be receiving an email, but he wanted to know if I would accept the nomination for Teacher of the Year. The question stopped me in my tracks. What?!! In my head I immediately began listing all the reasons why I wouldn't receive the honor and started to voice them to Doug.
He stopped me and said, "Jodi, those don't mean you aren't deserving of the nomination."
So, I accepted the nomination. I am awed and humbled because I am so lucky to work with so many amazing teachers. That I would even be considered in this category is...well...honestly, I am at a loss for words. I do not think the process will go any further than the nomination, but sometimes being acknowledged is more than enough!

i am SO proud of you. I'd have added my nom to the bunch..... And I am NOT surprised. You are amazing, and always inspired me!
:)
Plain and simple, Jodi...you rock!!! You do so much for your students...and your peers. I'm honored to work with you and to be able to bounce ideas back and forth.
You both made me tear up! Darn you!
Love you guys! And it is me that is the lucky one!!
I should probably start with apologizing if it's out of my place to remark on this, but I just had to say that I whole-heartedly agree with Mr. J and Mrs. S.
As I told you during some point last week, I have thoroughly enjoyed your class so far, as well as your teaching style. I love the opportunity to express myself, and seeing other students who I know wouldn't normally open-up do just that makes me feel confident that I'm getting exactly what (if not more) I should be out of your class. Aside from feeling that I will be prepared for Senior Advanced next year, I am sure that the constructive comments I'm getting on the college app-style essays are going to be especially useful for me in the too soon future.
I could go on with things that made me nod my head and smile when I read your post - really, I could. Just know that you've got more than your peers to back-up and encourage this nomination, for it's very well deserved!
